I landed in Miami at 7-ish tonight and grabbed a cab ($25 ride) to the Intercontinental Hotel. Wow, this is one beautiful hotel. Shawn and Missy picked a sure winner here.
After I dropped my stuff in the room I headed out immediately to the Affiliate Dinner at Bubba Gump, which was a short walk down the road. Dinner was great, and the roast of Missy Ward was even better. Shawn, of course, stole the show with a pre-recorded roast presentation that had the room roaring with laughter. Missy was a great sport.
After dinner, we took a shuttle over to South Beach to a club called Cameo for the Buy.at party. Great club and special VIP treatment. I sat next to Keith Cornlis, the CEO of Buy.at on the shuttle. I’m looking for big things from them in the future based upon the discussion we had.
After a few drinks at the club, I headed back to the hotel and hooked up with all the “cool kids” in the hotel lobby. The usual suspects were about, including Lisa Picarelle, Sam Harrelson, Wade Tonkin, Donuts, Uncle Scooter, and of course Shawn Collins, brandishing his Miller Lite, sans can (this is a fancy place).
On my way up to bed I ran into Shoemoney, whom I had never met in person, and another affiliate usual suspect Jim Lillig. Even saw Todd Crawford in the lobby (he didn’t see me) and of course, Brian Littleton milling about. And that’s that. It’s bedtime.
Tomorrow morning I’m heading over to a breakfast and then registering for the show. If you see me around, stop by and say hello.
