If you are purchasing a full-page ad in the Affiliate Summit conference program, you just have a week to get it in to use. Below are the specs:
Trim: 8.5 x 11 inches
Bleed: 9.5 x 12 inches
- ¼ inch bleed on all sides is required
- All photos and live text must be kept ¼ inch inside page trim size
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- Four-color advertisements MUST have a match print enclosed. No responsibility will be accepted for color matching in the absence of a suitable color proof.
- Any amendments/production work not specifically discussed and agreed upon in the original advertising contract will be charged for as an additional and separate cost. This may include rework of Quark files for documents submitted that do not meet the mechanical specifications (above), work to remove spot or special colors (unless with prior agreement) or rework on graphics files that do not meet the our printing parameters.
- PRODUCING YOUR AD
- Dimensions. See above. Ads, especially partial-page bleed ads, should be designed so they can be placed on either left or right pages.
- File Type. Please prepare your ad for submission as a press-ready PDF, EPS or TIFF file. If you use a Windows PC, include a PDF, TIFF or editable EPS file in addition to source files. We cannot guarantee that we can modify Windows files correctly.
- Type/Fonts. Adobe Type 1 fonts are preferred; TrueType fonts are acceptable. Choose bold or italic fonts when needed; don’t apply bold or italic styles to plain fonts or your type may not output correctly. To avoid font issues with EPS files, consider converting your EPS file’s fonts to outlines. If you are knocking out white type against a black background in a color ad, make your background a “rich black” of 40% Cyan and 100% Black to ensure crisp type.
- Crop Marks/Bleed. Use crop marks to indicate bleed and trim. Offset your crop marks enough to keep them out of the bleed.
- Image Resolution. All bit-mapped images must be at least 266dpi—do not enlarge 300dpi images more than 112%. TIFF files containing text should be 600, 800 or (preferably) 1200dpi.
- Colors. Use process CMYK colors (not RGB, spot or index colors). Do not embed color profiles in image files. When specifying a PMS color as a second or fifth color, you must notify us of the PMS color and approximate percent coverage by the space closing date.
- PROOFS
- All ads must be accompanied by an acceptable proof. Laser or inkjet proofs for 4-color ads are not acceptable. This proof will be used for printing purposes only; we do not provide the client with a confirming 4-color or black-and-white proof.
- All proofs should be output at 100% size with no corrections marked on the final proof. Four-color ads require a SWOP Standard (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) digital proof showing color bars and crop marks. For black-and-white ads, a laser or inkjet print is acceptable.
- SENDING US YOUR AD
- No matter what format your ad is in, it must be accompanied by all source files, including the final layout file, images, logos, and Macintosh screen and printer fonts. Fonts used in placed EPS files must be included as well if you have not converted them to outlines. Even if you are sending a final PDF, EPS or TIFF file, you must include source files with your submission in case an element needs to be altered.
- Send us your ad on CD, or via email if it is less than 5 MBs in size. Please scan your disk with a virus checker before sending it.
- In addition to your disk and proof, enclose your production contact information and a printout of your disk’s contents (”File>Print Window…” on a Mac)
- PROBLEMS
- Any disk intervention required by us or our printer may result in additional charges to the advertiser. If we encounter a minor problem with your ad, we will attempt to fix it and let you know what the problem was. If we cannot fix it, we will ask you to correct the problem and submit a revised file on disk via overnight delivery assuming our deadline permits it.
- The most common problems include images that are too low-resolution, missing Macintosh screen and/or printer fonts, incorrect ad sizes, images not converted to CMYK, text outside the safety area, excessive density of tone, ads created in nonstandard or Windows applications, and embedded color profiles that add LAB color.
